Back in Vermilion City, find the Snorlax that's blocking your
way. Then, use your PokéGear Radio to tune to the
Poké Flute station. Then, go over to the Snorlax and press
A. It'll wake up. Get your Ultra Balls ready.
After defeating or capturing Snorlax, head north to enter
Diglett's Cave and make your way through, then exit the other side,
cut down the tree nearby, and go north to Pewter City.

The old man in Pewter City will give you a Silver Wing or Rainbow Wing depending on the version. Next, you fight Brock in his Pokémon Gym.
After defeating Brock, and getting the Boulderbadge, go south, make your way through the trees, and you'll end up in Viridian City. |

The gym in Viridian is closed because the Leader is currently away.
A new place in Viridian City is the Trainer House, a great place to level up your Pokémon. Inside the building next to the Pokémon Mart, go downstairs and talk to the lady. Answer yes and you'll fight a trainer with the following Pokémon:
You can only battle once a day. The trainer will change when you use Mystery Gift with a friend. Then, the trainer you'll battle is the friend, with the Pokémon the friend has. Keeping to the south you will find Pallet Town, then Cinnabar Island. |

When you get here, talk to the boy on the island. His name is Blue (Gary), currently the leader of the Viridian City Gym. He'll then return to his gym after the talk. Cinnabar Island wasn't what it used to be. A volcanic eruption destroyed the town. Surf east, and you'll reach the Seafoam Islands, where the Cinnabar Gym has been relocated. There, you'll meet Blaine.
Now, leave the cave and fly back to Viridian City, where you'll find Blue in his gym. |

After defeating him and getting the Earth Badge, go to Professor Oak's lab in Pallet Town. |

|
Since you've received all 8 badges, Professor Oak will allow you to go to Mt. Silver, where many different wild Pokémon are found. |
