Pokemon Gold and Silver - Walkthrough - Goldenrod City
Goldenrod City
The Radio Tower has been taken over by the Rockets. Go into the tower and make your way. You'll battle several Rocket members and scientists.
At the fifth floor, you'll find the Director, who in reality is a Rocket Executive who was pretending to be the Director and who hid the real Director.
After defeating the Exec, he'll tell you that he hid the real Director in the Underground, and he gives you a Basement Key to open the door. Enter the Underground from the north side.
On the alleyway in the middle of the Underground, open the locked door and take the stairs. Soon enough, you'll meet your rival once again.

After defeating him, you can continue. This room has three switches which open and close certain doors. Turn on switches 3, 2, and 1 in that order. Follow your way, and turn on the final switch to enter the next room.
This room is the Warehouse. Defeat the last three Rockets and rescue the Director. He'll give you a Card Key. Next to the Director is TM35 (Sleep Talk). This is an attack that a sleeper can use.
Go to the stairs at the top left corner, pick up the Amulet Coin (which doubles the money you earn after winning a battle), use the Card Key to unlock the door, and then leave for the Radio Tower again.
At the third floor of the Radio Tower, use the Card Key to open the locked door separating the two rooms. At the fifth floor is the female Executive. Defeat her, and you can access the studio. Then, the final one. When you defeat him, all of the Rocket members leave (disbanded once again) and the real Director arrives and gives you a special gift, which was found when the new Radio Tower was built.
| The special item the Director gives you is either a Rainbow Wing (in Gold) or a Silver Wing (Silver). The Rainbow Wing can be used in Tin Tower in Ecruteak City, and you can use the Silver Wing in the Whirl Islands, between Olivine and Cianwood City. The item is placed in the Key Items pocket, which means it cannot be held by a Pokémon. |
When you leave the tower, you'll get two gifts. The lady on the fourth floor will give you a Pink Bow, which powers up normal-type moves. The lady on the third floor will give you TM11 (Sunny Day).
Fly back to Mahogany Town, and go east through Route 44 to the Ice Path.
Ice Path
The Ice Path can be very dangerous, and it's a little difficult to navigate, because parts of this cave consists of skating on floors of ice.
You'll find some new Pokémon in here, a small mammoth like thing called Swinub. There's also a shy bird called Delibird in the Silver version.
You can find the last HM, HM07 (Waterfall) in the Ice Path. This HM lets you ride up waterfalls. Soon enough, you'll reach Blackthorn City.
